Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program [HPRP]
Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act [ARRA] of 2009, the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program [HPRP] is a HUD-sponsored program that’s purpose is to provide financial assistance to individuals and households at risk of becoming homeless and to rapidly re-house persons who are currently homeless. HPRP funds are able to assist households with rental payments, utilities, security deposits and other costs and services such as credit repair and housing search and placement.
Cobb County has been awarded $1,377,048 in HPRP funds. Cobb County's Substantial Amendment for the HPRP has been approved by HUD, but the funds have not been made available at this time. To review a copy of the HPRP Substantial Amendment to the PY 2008 Action Plan submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, please click here.
Two non-profit organizations selected to receive HPRP funding are The Center for Family Resources [CFR] and MUST Ministries. CFR is Cobb County’s largest non-profit agency and the most significant homeless agency in Cobb’s Continuum of Care. MUST is Cobb County’s largest facility-based homeless non-profit agency and has 35 Church sponsors/participants in its overall Cobb County homeless program.
If you have questions regarding the program, please contact Chris Pelkey at (770) 528-4600 x233. If you are an individual wanting more information on HPRP eligibility guidelines, please contact Carolyn Bridges at CFR or Andy Peabody at MUST Ministries.
